The Library Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Tikrit, plays a fundamental role in supporting the educational and research process by providing up-to-date scientific sources and references that meet the needs of students and faculty members. The unit’s responsibilities include organizing and managing the library’s collections of books, journals, and electronic research materials, as well as continuously updating the library database.
The unit also facilitates beneficiaries’ access to resources through internal and external lending services, and provides technical support and guidance on the use of databases and digital libraries. In addition, it oversees maintaining order and organization within the library and organizes awareness-raising and cultural activities that promote a culture of reading and scientific research within the college.

Tasks of the Digital Library Unit
- Managing Digital Databases: Ensuring access to international scientific databases, electronic journals, and digital books.
- Organizing Electronic Information Sources: Classifying digital content and guaranteeing easy access through the library’s platforms.
- Supporting Scientific Research: Providing researchers and students with electronic resources suitable for their academic and research fields.
- Continuously Updating Digital Content: Subscribing to the latest journals and databases, and updating digital resource catalogs.
- Training Users: Conducting workshops on how to use the digital library and effectively search electronic resources.
- Integration with E-Learning Systems: Linking digital library content with online learning platforms (e.g., Moodle or Google Classroom).
- Supporting Open Access: Providing free scientific resources that promote open knowledge and support university research.
